Independent Trucks Logo Change

Independent Trucks Logo Change

Independent Trucks Changes Their Logo
If you've picked up a pair of Independent Trucks in the last couple weeks, you'll notice a big difference between the Indy's that came out months before. All the New Independent trucks have no cross logos on the baseplates.

This has been a huge topic of conversation over the last couple months. With some people claiming that the Independent trucks logo is offensive because it was loosely based off the iron cross, a symbol that was super popular in the surfing and motorcycle culture in 70's Southern California, but was also used in some nazi memorabilia.

Jim Phillips designer of the original logo did say he was inspired by the iron cross with the design, but tweaked it to make it his own, and actually ended up using a photo of the pope to draw inspiration for the final Independent trucks logo.

For now, Independent has pulled the cross logo from all their trucks and says a new logo is coming soon. The new Independent trucks logo will be first seen in the next issue of Thrasher Magazine.

Independent has started to phase out the cross logo. The new Independent trucks logo will be the logo featured on the new ads and everything moving forwards. The old logo is still coming out on a few clothing pieces moving forwards but will be phased out.

What are your thoughts on the logo controversy? Is it offensive and needs to be changed? Are people taking it out of context/ is it overkill? Let us know in the comments.

oh no the wokes are destroying your brand theyre coming for you the baddies are coming to ruin your fun!!! no; the iron cross symbolizes a dangerous and archaic way of thinking and way of life. the dude made it the logo 30 years ago because nobody gave a shit and it was just a cool symbol. but objective meaning is becoming a thing again since gen z wants to pull themselves from their gutter. and i see no problem with being stricter and more effective with our language and symbolism. this is not some harbinger of a dark future to come at the hands of a dystopian queer culture out of control. its just millions of people in one system; succeeding failing evolving regressing loving hating etc. and this turn around the block is a minuscule improvement yk every nazi wore and iron cross time to evovle people

Independently has had this logo forever! Now it’s offensive? I heard about this from Tim Pool just now. I had to look for myself. Independent stand up for yourself not give into these Woke idiots.

I wear the clothing with great pride!
Don’t give a dam what attitude or snarly smirks bestowed.

  • Someone that doesn’t give into the propaganda bs

The fact that they just give in to people that have nothing better to do that get offended by thing that have no meaning to them it’s a trademark of the company and you just want to faze it out until there’s nothing left. Sad world we live in where skater aren’t even skaters anymore

I’ve skated since 1985 and for them to bow to the whines of a few who wanna destroy everything that isn’t just how they like truly sickens me. If you’re one of the offended, don’t skate Indy’s. Take you’re stupid PC bullshit to another “hobby”, you don’t, won’t, and never will understand skateboarding. Ahhh, it’s too late now. My support for NHS wanted.
